What is NIWeek, and why should you attend? [NIWeek 2019 – 3:3]

NIWeek is much more than just a presentation of new features and products that can be used to solve tomorrow’s challenges. It is also a fantastic place to learn something new and be inspired by other attendees, which I will focus on in the third and final blog post in the NIWeek 2019 mini-series.

Technical presentations

In addition to the keynotes, NIWeek offers a wide range of technical presentations, divided into seven different tracks:

    • Software Engineering Processes, Architectures, and Design (SEPAD)
    • Hardware and Technologies
    • Software Fundamentals
    • Academic
    • Aerospace and Defense
    • Automotive
    • Semiconductor

Did you miss NIWeek? [Video]

It is possible to rewatch some of the technical sessions, as a team from the LabVIEW community recorded them—many thanks to them for that!

In this post, I will highlight a presentation about how to better keep track of your product requirements using bookmarks in LabVIEW. The presentation was delivered by Quentin Alldredge from Q Software Innovations, as well as Becky Linton and Chris Beuschell from Konrad Technologies:

Discounts on certifications and courses [LabVIEW and TestStand]

Did you know that you can also take certifications at NIWeek—and that it is cheaper than usual? At this year’s NIWeek, for example, there was a 50% discount on taking the certification exams and a 25% discount on attending the courses.

It was possible to take the following certifications:

It was possible to attend the following courses:

Networking events of various kinds

Another advantage of attending NIWeek is that all participants are there with a purpose: to learn from one another and build new relationships. This is, among other things, the case when there is an opportunity to ask the speaker questions after each presentation, which often turns into a professional discussion that can help create new connections.

In addition, there is also the exhibition area, where sponsors and exhibitors present their latest products, including how they interact with LabVIEW. You can also visit the Expert Bar, where you can book a time with a LabVIEW expert from NI R&D for more technical questions.

NI also hosted an evening event for the Northern European region, where everyone was invited for dinner and conversation across countries and companies. The conversations were, of course, technical in nature, but there was also room for tall tales and funny anecdotes from previous NIWeeks. In addition, one of the major highlights was the closing party on Wednesday, to which all attendees were invited.

A summary of NIWeek 2019

So, to summarise: NIWeek is so much more than just a presentation of new features and future strategies—and I can only recommend attending! Personally, it was my first trip to NIWeek, and I would like to thank everyone who helped make it a fantastic trip.
