OJ Electronics (OJ) was founded in 1964 and is headquartered in Sønderborg, Denmark. OJ manufactures electronic controls for electric underfloor heating as well as HVAC controllers and variable frequency drives. Their products are available through partners and distributors worldwide, and OJ has subsidiaries and sales offices in key markets, including the USA and Poland. Everywhere, OJ is known for its innovative approach, its insistence on product quality, and deep application knowledge—all of which help its customers differentiate themselves in their respective markets.
At GPower, we have worked with OJ since the beginning of 2022 and have since become a preferred supplier within test and measurement of systems in their production. A collaboration that began when OJ contacted us for assistance in reducing test time and downtime in their production, with the aim of increasing capacity on the production line. In short: away with uncertainty and false failures, in favour of a modern, modular, and quality-assured test platform.
Based on a project at OJ, we have been able to demonstrate which improvements they have had to prioritise to enhance their test system that regulates motor speed—for example, for ventilation control in hotels, production facilities, and barns.
OJ Electronics wanted to increase production capacity by reducing test time and downtime, while their existing test platform was outdated and difficult to maintain across multiple testers.
Development of a modular test platform based on NI TestStand and LabVIEW, including custom step types, operator UI, fixture plugins, and an improved hardware and software architecture.
A more stable and future-proof test platform with 25% higher performance, a 50% reduction in production test engineer hours, and 50% lower future maintenance and upgrade costs.
Our challenge was that we needed to expand our test capacity with several new testers, while our old test platform was outdated and not easy to maintain across multiple testers. By creating a new test platform in TestStand and reviewing every single test step, we have gained a platform and a setup that makes it easy for us to keep the equipment up to date across sites.

Upgrading TestStand 2014 to a newer version and further developing the existing software and hardware has resulted in a significant reduction in costs and increased production efficiency. Regarding their test platform, we subsequently conducted analyses showing that the project has resulted in:
