GPower reports a record result for the 2018/2019 financial year. Among other things, the result has meant that the company has been able to hire even more software developers, as well as make a major investment in the development of its software platform, which is aimed at test projects. A development that will benefit both small and large companies.

GPower is generally recognized as one of the most valuable partners for National Instruments in Denmark. This is due, among other things, to its position as the increasingly leading development house within NI’s programming language, LabVIEW, and TestStand, which is a framework for test management.

Likewise, GPower is considered a leader in the development of innovative solutions within test and measurement, which the Danish company delivers very successfully to some of the world’s leading industrial companies. The tasks range from developing measurement and data acquisition systems to be used for optimizing wind turbines, to test systems for product quality assurance.

The workforce is growing

The strong result from 2019 is expected to continue in 2020, as GPower’s calendar is already close to fully booked.

The many orders on the books mean that GPower can continue increasing the number of highly specialized employees, which the hiring of an experienced LabVIEW and TestStand expert back in February also indicates. GPower’s CEO, Martin Boje, explains in this connection that he already expects to hire several more developers in the first quarter:

“Increasing demand for projects and ongoing development of our own products and concepts has resulted in the fact that we can already see here in Q1 that we will be hiring one to two more profiles. And if we compare with 2019, we actually expect the workforce to increase significantly here in 2020. This is possible because of the sound profit we generated in 2019, where we can finally begin to reap the benefits of the strategic initiative we launched in 2017,” he says.

More employees, projects, and customers have also necessitated a new organizational structure, which has meant that GPower has now appointed two Tech Leads in the development department. The two Tech Leads support GPower’s CTO, Steen Secher Schmidt, in day-to-day operations, and they also have a leading role in development projects and the further development of GPower’s software packages.

In addition to changes in the development department, changes have also been made in the sales department, where GPower has added a technical sales representative who leads the further development of concepts, strategic cooperation agreements, and partnerships. In this way, GPower expects to be even more ahead of the changing requirements of the market, which they believe is absolutely necessary in order to deliver the very best solutions within test and measurement.

Developing products and concepts in parallel with projects

With this news, GPower is therefore delivering on what they said back in 2017. At that time, they made it clear that the ambition was not only to function as hourly paid consultants. Instead, they would develop their own products and concepts in parallel with a number of customer assignments, which they are well underway with.

GPower is now looking forward to presenting its new product. They reveal that it is a test system that has already been sold to a couple of larger companies, but that the system is also geared for running tests on a smaller scale. News that means that GPower’s new and reportedly groundbreaking system is not only relevant for large companies, but also for small ones.

“Personally, I find that the already strong demand from both small and large companies is because our customers can see that the investment in a smart test system quickly pays for itself—both in terms of product and function development, but also in terms of minimizing costs and getting a future-proof system,” Martin Boje concludes.

At GPower, they are pleased with the 2018/2019 financial year, but are already focused on how they can make the next financial year even better. In this way, they can continue growth in the number of projects and employees, as both help make it possible to invest in further development of their own products and concepts. And perhaps we will soon hear from GPower again regarding their test system?
