Watch the NORDLUG presentation again: “Acquiring Data, You Can Trust”

Were you unable to attend when Jens Christian Andersen from GPower presented at NORDLUG (Nordic LabVIEW and TestStand User Group) a few weeks ago? You can now watch the full presentation online and gain insight into the considerations, challenges, and design choices behind the development of a modern data logger system.

Based on a real-world project, Jens Christian explains why GPower chose to develop a new data logger, what requirements were set for data quality, and how the software architecture was designed to create a robust and scalable solution.

Why build a data logger?

Many companies collect large volumes of measurement data, but without the right quality assurance during data acquisition, the data risks losing its value. This can lead to incorrect analyses, inaccurate calculations, and decisions based on an uncertain foundation.

Starting with the opening question: “We built a data logger, but why?” Jens Christian takes his point of departure in the challenges and needs that led to the development of the solution. He provides insight into the requirements that had to be met, and how a focus on data quality can create greater value for users.

A real-world system example

The presentation is based on an existing system and shows how theory is put into practice. Through a concrete example, you gain insight into the technical and architectural decisions that often must be made when developing industrial software solutions.

Data quality as the foundation

A central theme of the presentation is data quality. Even the most advanced data logger has limited value if the collected data cannot be trusted. Therefore, a number of considerations regarding validation, processing, and handling of measurement data are reviewed.

Software design and live demonstration

The presentation concludes with a look under the hood at the software design itself, as well as a demonstration of the data logger in practice. Here, you get a concrete insight into how the system is built and which design principles underpin the solution.
